Cara De Nopal
This exhibition was made possible by Leah Henckel, a senior honors student at Lakeland University. WI. She wanted to host an art exhibition and artist talk as part of her final project.
After interviewing several artists, I was picked for the exhibition opportunity. I was already working on a body of work that explored my identity as a Hispanic American and was encouraged to grow this body of work. This exhibition also includes writings I hand-wrote onto a lithograph print made to look like notebook paper.
These writings encapsulate my experiences and provide more context for some of the artwork. As part of this opportunity, an artist talk was given before the opening reception.
The first image in the gallery is a link that leads to a recording of the artist's talk. I delve into the inspiration and meaning behind some specific pieces of the exhibition and answer questions from the audience.
